Lesson #7: MLM failure: The Ugly Truth!


Listen carefully!

This is neither a sales letter, nor one of those “opportunity marketing” articles that you usually come through, as you’ve noticed in my previous posts; I’ve never mentioned any companies, opportunities, or products…

The main purpose of this Blog is to give you some help, hints, and REAL facts about this amazing industry, and I won’t ask for anything in return.

You might be wondering; why on earth would I do anything like that!?

Well, it’s just because I would like to inspire people around me, the same way I was inspired by a lot of fabulous MLM experts, and help them just the way I was helped when I first started.

It’s all about appreciation, and a simple way to express gratitude to the universe, and everyone who ever helped me. I’m sure that there a lot of people, especially the new comers in the MLM industry, who are unaware of the real facts of this business, and I really want to tell them that it’s a big challenge to take, if they want to change their lives!

My number one rule in life is being honest with people the same way I’m honest to myself.
If you’re wondering why I made the title “The Ugly Truth”, then this is why:

1-Do you know why only 3% of people who get involved in MLM succeed, while the other 97% fail, quit, and others remain struggling for years?

I don’t want to go through a long story; I’m a strait forward person:
Answer: Lack of knowledge!

Most of them start without knowing what they are doing! I don’t blame them; I was one of them actually. But it’s not their fault! The ones to be blamed are their sponsors, or the person who introduced them to this business. They didn’t give them the continuous support! They were left behind! They took advantage of them and… That’s the ugly truth!

2-Do you know that from all the people that you will tell them about your opportunity, only 1% of them will join you?

Yes from every 100 person you talk to, only one will get involved with you.
Why?
The second ugly truth,

I’m sure that you’ve heard people telling you that one of the advantages of starting an online business is because it’s a low investment. Well, it’s true that you can start with some cheap stuff in the beginning, but you won’t be able to get to the top without investing some money on your knowledge. I’m not talking about money investment here, it also requires time. I believe that time is money, so both are of same value anyway. Maybe five hours a week are enough as a start, but you will reach a point where you have to dedicate at least four hours a day for your online business. After all it’s a business, so either you treat it as a REAL business or forget about it!

If you’re paying 10 or 20 or 30 dollars per month on your business, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to give it much time, you have to treat it as if you invested $10,000 in it, and guide it carefully and wisely.

Honestly guys? If you think that you can make a couple thousands of dollars in you first months, then I’m really sorry for you but that’s impossible whatever you did, buy adds, leads, whatever you may think about; it won’t happen unless you give it time to mature.

That’s it … MATURE! It’s just like a tree that you have to dig deep to plant it, take care of it every day, water it, remove the harmful weed around it, and look after it every single day. Day after day after day, it will give you back from its tasty fruits… The better you took care of it the best of the fruits you will get; and now after all the hard work, you can enjoy it!

An MLM home based business pays into the future for work you did in the past. As you help your people build their own organizations, your income grows.

What else do you need to know?

-Generate new prospects (to build your People/Team/Network/Spider Web).

-Follow up on your prospects.

-Sponsoring.

-Training your reps to do exactly the same thing.

Lesson #6: The four W’s: The valuable instructions to understand your MLM

Ok my friend, sit back, relax, and focus because I’m about to give you some valuable piece of information in a minute.
In our last lesson I was talking about the four W’s that I will go into details soon, to help you visualize every single step in any kind of MLM you are doing.
You must keep the following W’s in your mind in each step you take in your business, in each article you post, each ad you create, and every time you want to make a new step in your business to make it grow bigger in front of your eyes and your team’s. Make sure that the four W’s are to be shared with every single person in your team or down-line, because simply these are the basics… It’s not necessary if they are in the same sequence they come in, so one might come before the other or after, it doesn’t matter, what matters is that they ALL are a MUST DO in any MLM bsuiness

Now let’s get started:
First “W”: Who are you looking for?
People who are interested in MLM… Now that sounds vague, but in fact your best target market, is where you can find people who have the same interest as you, i.e. network marketers, who joined any MLM and quit because they failed, or current amateur network marketers who started a new business and they might need some help, and guidance. You can find them on forums, or social communities like BetterNetworker.com, I believe that it would be the best place.
Expert MLMers are even the best! If you can attract them they would give you the best results. If they just leave a simple comment on your posts, or recommend you as an expert, you will be on the right track to success. If expert MLMers found value in you, a lot of their followers will be interested into looking at your stuff to see what new things you will have for them and they will expect value from you as well
Now you can still get connected with random and tell them about what you have, even though they were not network marketers, but you have to introduce them to the value again, not the opportunity. Be honest with them, tell them that this business is like any business and it takes some time to see the cash coming to your pockets grab their hands, give them some e-books, DVDs or anything with VALUE. Don’t just show them the opportunity and disappear! They will be confused at a certain time and quit. So be careful, you must follow up on new prospects networkers directly, through webinars, conferences, group meetings, or maybe one-on-one meetings, invite them to a cup of coffee! This is the best way! I do that, it works! Let them feel the energy from you when you talk to them with passion and confidence…

Second “W”: Why are you doing what you are doing?
The real reasons that made you decide doing this business, WHY you decided to become a Network Marketer?
The first famous MLM expert I heard him talking about your WHY and how to know it was Michael Dlouhy, I really respect him; he’s SO honest and confident when he talks about your real why and how to discover it.
When he talks about finding your real “WHY” he says:
“People always tell their goals.
Fine. You need goals.
But your "WHY" is a big, big, big reason that will keep you going.
Where's your fire? What do you LOVE? What do you HATE? What is REALLY important to you? What do you REALLY want? What situation in life do you want to get out of so it never ever, EVER happens again? It's not goals. It's not money, either.
But your real "WHY" is never money.
It's about who YOU really are.
Your driving factor must be WAY more than money.”

It’s your passion, your dreams, your strong will to change your life. It’s your power of your mind and thoughts to change your life style, your community, your social life, your financial situation, and every single detail in your life. It’s not what you were; it’s WHAT YOU WANT TO BECOME!
It’s any emotion that puts you in the best state of mind to focus on what you really want to change.
Know your WHY and understand your people’s, to find the harmony between you them, this way you will know how to choose the people that will become your partners and walk with you in the path of success. Did you get it?

The “WHO” and the “WHY” are linked and both work together…

Third “W”: What are you offering your people?

As we always say, you have to give your people. Give for nothing in return. You will get that sooner or later. Don’t ask for anything when you offer them help and guidance. But first, you have to offer them the value; the value might be anything that they can benefit from, something unique, not any crap that they can find everywhere!
Now tell me what other things could be more valuable than YOURSELF?
Yes, you are the value that you will offer your people, your support, your guidance, your help, your honesty, your kindness, your knowledge, and your positive vibes that will reflect your passion to your people.

When you offer them this value, people will beg you to become their leader, and they will call you day and night several times to join you, because they can see how valuable you are!

Again the “WHO”, “WHY” and the “WHY” work together consistently…


Fourth “W”: Where are you placing yourself?

This W works with the first W the “WHO”, If you know where to find them, then you automatically know where. So you can start from them. Or if you didn’t know who, start from here, from the place you can find people want what you have. It’s your niche you are going to place yourself in as a guide, and as a leader, it’s the place you advertise yourself and your experiences, and knowledge and put them to serve your people who need your help.

This W comes automatically when you accomplish all previous three because as we said, they are always interrelated; and they only work as complete system.

Now let’s put all the above together and summarize them in a simple example, think of a person who wants to move from one place to another he. Let’s say he’s new in town, just arrived at the airport and he wants to go for a meeting in the next city couple hundred of miles away; but he unfortunately he doesn’t know how to drive. That’s the “WHO” he’s you target.
Next, you want to help him because you know that one day you will need his help so he will do you a favor in the future anyway, so you understand that helping him, helps you sooner or later. That’s your “WHY”. On the other hand he will understand WHY you gave him the support, so he will see your vision and understand his WHY soon, and he will help another person who will help another person and so on, and he will bring you more people too…

Now, if you stop here, you did nothing at all! He needs the (instructions), because he doesn’t know how to drive the car, the directions (the guidance you give), the tools (the steering wheel), the track (the right and easy road you put him on); that’s the “WHAT” the value you offer him!

Ok now you might be asking, where is the forth W, the “Where”? Let’s start again”
“Think of a person who wants to move from one place to another. Let’s say he’s new in town, just arrived and he’s in the airport and wants to go for a meeting in the next city couple hundred of miles ago, but unfortunately he doesn’t know how to drive.”
That’s your fourth your “Where.”

Again,
Who: the new guy arrived to town + doesn’t know how to drive, because if he knows, why would he need you.
Why: this is your own it’s not general. But in our example, we’ll say because giving without taking will give you in return.
What: The (instructions), the directions (the guidance you give), the tools (the steering wheel), the track (the right and easy road you put him on. All are the value in YOU.
Where: In our example the airport, when you can find new people in town, or they don’t know the directions, and preferably they don’t know how to drive, and need your valued help.

Remember we said it’s automatic, all linked together?
Each RIGHT person you target and you put him in this system; will become LOYAL to you! That’s not all he will refer other people he cares for to you as a real mentor to help them just like you helped him.


This is how you will need to start training yourself, your mind, and your team because there is no other way that you will build and keep your people with you whatever happened, no matter what; they will never leave you, because now they trust you, and they care for you because you really cared for them in the very first beginning!

Start applying this in your daily work in everything you do, your personal discussions, your articles, your posts, your meetings; just anything, and notice the amazing results in return.

Lesson #5: Think Like your Prospect


The best way to understand your prospects is when you have the ability to think like them. When you know how prospects think, you will understand them, and you will be answering questions before they’re asked.

When you do that, people will recognize you as a leader, without even mentioning that, because eventually you are answering all the questions for them, and you are offering everything for them, and all what they need on a golden plate!

This is what exactly what prospects are looking for, a mentor who gives them everything they wish for, without taking anything in return. They need to experience what you experienced, they need to feel how you felt, they need to believe that they can succeed, just like you, BUT there is a real fact here, they don’t have the courage to risk it! Yes, they wouldn’t risk paying any amount of money to join the affiliate system you’re in, or to buy any books, DVDs or tapes, etc… I mean think about it, they wouldn’t pay for anything that they don’t know anything about it? Would you invest in stocks for example if you don’t know anything about this industry?!

Of course not!

That’s how new prospects think, it is their first time in this industry, and they are not ready to pay anything! They want to get paid not pay anything. Even old network marketers, they have been struggling in this industry for years and years, without any results or profits; in fact their credit cards were sucked instead, because they didn’t understand how this business goes…and they would probably quit if you will offer anything new or when you tell them: “I have something new for you, but you have to pay me this tiny amount of money!” they’ve paid a lot, so you can’t “sell” them anything, even the “one of a kind amazing opportunity!”

SO WHAT?!

This is their answer!

They don’t care for your new opportunity,

They don’t care for your new company, managers, CEO…

They don’t care for your products,

They don’t care for your system, tools, or the sales kit provided,

If you offer them all the above, you’re going to hear a lot of “SO WHATs”

What do they care for then ? What do they need? What are they looking for?

  1. They are looking for a good coach, a good mentor, a real friend (YOU)
  2. They are looking for the Up-line support that they would trust (again YOU)
  3. They are looking for the best training (still talking about YOU)
  4. They are looking for a good marketing plan and the potential earnings

Wait! Can you believe it?

Now they started looking at the marketing plan and thinking about the money!

But they are still asking YOU if you can help them make some money! So you are still involved my friend.

Tip number 1:

Stop talking about the money, stop promising them that they will make a$1,000-$2,000 in their first month! Don’t give promises that you can’t keep, if someone believed you in the first place and didn’t receive any money in their first month, they will quit the next! Trust me! I know that because it happened to me. So learn from others and avoid doing that.

Don’t advertise the Income opportunity; don’t advertise the product, among people that you know that they won’t care about it, stop wasting your time and your money to advertise things people are not looking for.

You have to advertise YOURSELF!

My friend, when you think like your prospect, and know what they really want, you will get the right answers for the following important questions:

Who are you looking for? What kind of people you want to involve in your business and build your spider web with?

Why are you doing this? The REAL reason you started this business, and understand your people’s WHYs because they have their own dreams just like you and I.

What are you offering people? What value are you offering, not products, system, or opportunity

Where are you going to advertise yourself? What niche that would be the best place to succeed?

I call them the 4 Ws.

These are very important issues for you to understand, they will simply summarize almost everything you need to know, before even starting, and it’s better to know that before starting your business to save years of struggling!

I’m going to talk about the 4 Ws in details in my following blogs, and I want from you to think about the answers for these 4 Ws and write them down, so that you would know the level of your thinking in this industry after comparing your answers with the real answers

Lesson #4: Network Marketing Vs. Direct Marketing

The biggest common mistake, that amateur network marketers do when they start their first MLM business, is the wrong idea they have about network marketing and confusing it direct marketing.


In fact, DM and NM are two different things; yes both are marketing but each one has its own characteristics and its own strategies…

If all what you do is marketing your product , and telling people about it … then you are a direct marketer!

If all what you care for is just selling your product, and then moving to another person (direct marketers call them customers) to sell him/her the product … then you are a direct marketer!

If all what you are planning for is“recruiting” more people to join your "opportunity", then you are a direct marketer!


Now think ... Is that what you are doing in your business?

Then you have to look somewhere else because I'm sorry I can't help you!

And for the rest of you my friends, I’m going to tell you what makes us different than network marketers…

I don’t have any problems with direct marketers, but I honestly don't like the way they do business, especially when they sell products that they have never tried, before selling it to other people, which lot of direct marketers do that by the way.

Getting back to US, You and I my friend, the real network marketers; how do we do business?
As I always say:

Network Marketing = People

First, get to know more people, make more friends. that's it! as simple as that! know what they want, study them, know their WHY, find out more about them, what they do, what they like, care for them, find out what their dreams are and help them achieve their dreams.

Second, gain their TRUST.

Third, mentor them, and here is the professional part!

If you achieved the three steps, then congrats you are building your spider web in the correct way, and now it will last forever!


MLM is a relationship game!

Whatever your product is, it doesn’t matter. What company? Who cares?! Products and Companies come and go. What really maters in MLM is your spider web, if you build it right, treat it right, and keep it right, it will last forever, and so your business!

I spent hours, days, and months to learn more about this business to create my KNOWLEDGE that gave me power in this industry, you can’t imagine how much money I spenton DVDs, e-books, and books to increase my knowledge.
Think about this for a while:

Knowledge = Power,

And Money = Power,

Thus, Knowledge = Money, make sense?


Now what is knowledge?
And HOW do you create you KNOWLEDGE?


simple formula:
Knowledge = (Information + Experience) X TIME

In other words, it’s the total Information that you collect when you do a certain job during a certain time frame.

So, the more information you collect while doing your business, you will have the experience in what you are doing, and the more time you spend doing that and repeating the process over and over again, in the RIGHT way of course, you will be creating your strong knowledge, your power that will lead your team in the future.
You pass this knowledge for your people, by mentoring them, coaching them, training them, and then they will learn how to SELL THEMSELVES! Just the way you were doing…

One more thing you have to be aware of while choosing your people you want to have in your business; you need the type of people that will be become leaders. They should have the vision, the desire, and will to do business with you.

“You want coachable people with a strong desire and work ethic.”
If you find such people then you are on the right track!

Lesson # 3: People + Trust = Success!

Have you ever heard of lucky people? People succeed because they were lucky?
For instance, someone who joins a small business that no one ever heard of it before because it was newly introduced, and with time this company was expanding slightly until one day its profits explodes and this person made fortunes because he joined from the beginning.
Maybe he was lucky! Or maybe he had a VISION and he knew what he was doing from in the first palce!

You can be lucky in Network Marketing, but you have to be smart!
Smart to know how to build your own team, people who will do your business for you after you coach them and train them to be team leaders and expand your Spider Web for you.
The more you socialize the more you know people , the more you know people the more your spider web grows larger , the more your spider web grows larger the more you succeed in your business , and the more cash you will see coming into your pocket!
I will quote some words for Michael Dlouhy again, he’s an amazing mentor, and I understood the secret of this business when I first read his his e-book that he was offering for free online:
“It’s the result of what he called the spider web effect.
People who build webs tend to be luck. People who don’t build webs tend not to be lucky.
In other words … the more contacts you make in life … the more relationships you build … the fewer bridges you burn … the greater the universe of people who have strong positive feeling for you … the more people you reach out to help … the more likely you are to be luck.
This was fascinating. The biggest conclusion for me was YOU are in control of your own luck!”

You need people to survive in this business, and you want them to trust you. Offer them free tools or free e-books that they can use to increase their knowledge and help them succeed.
It really works. I mean think about it, even huge internet companies offer their customers a lot of free tools to increase their traffic! Hotmail, Google, yahoo, AOL, Twitter, Facebook, and the list never end…! They are competing on traffic; and in order to survive they want people to join their network, they offer them free services and tools, the more people will join … Does it make sense now?

When people observe your success and recognize you as good mentor and a good coach, they will ask you to be their sponsor. You’ll find them coming to you, calling or sending you emails asking you to sponsor them. But there is one more thing, one more secret, If you don’t care for them, and care for their success and care for their dreams you won’t make it! Truly caring about others break down barriers.
”You can have everything in life you want; if you help enough other people get what they want.”
Trust is the emotion of network marketing. You have to earn it. It comes from consistently doing what’s the best for your people.

Lesson # 2: It's not all about the MONEY!



My friend,
Before starting this business you have to make sure that you REALLY want to DO IT, and you have to know WHY you want to do it?



Ok let's see, Reason number one: MONEY!!?



Ok what else? NOTHING!? That's it?



Well this what I think about this business, and what I want to get from:



FUN ... SOCIALIZING ... new friends, talk to them, find out more and more about their personal lives, their interests, their goals, etc...



ok ok ok, I know you started this business in the first place for the MONEY. I want to make money as well! It’s obvious, I’m not wasting my time or yours here, I mean you can do that in social networking websites or chatrooms or anywhere else online; but you have to ENJOY the business in order to succeed,

and you can’t succeed alone!

You need people to help you here, but you have to help them in the first place.



That’s your job.



Let me tell you this: LESSON # 2
If ALL what you think about is the money, then you will get NONE. Trust me! It sounds difficult, but that’s another fact. If you think that you can make the profits over the night, I would recommend you to STOP doing this right away! After all nothing comes without hard work and effort. I don't want to make it sound impossible to make money online, but seriously do you think that you can get money without an effort, without the KNOWLEDGE!? That’s what I was talking about in my previous blog.

GREED and EGO! are the enemies of this business...
I've learned this from an e-book that was offered for free over the internet by Michael Dlouhy, who has been in the network marketing business for over 30 years, I haven't had the opportunity to be in direct contact with him, but I'm looking forward for that...

So, where were we?
Oh! GREED and EGO!
I'm gonna give you an example of one of my old buddies who I introduced him to this business when I first started. I used to spend hours, and hours, to convince him that he can make money through this business, until he decided to join me, and after couple of months, he QUIT... WHY??! Because all what he was thinking about was money, he didn't enjoy doing what he was doing!

On the other hand, here I am now ENJOYING this business, making NEW FRIENDS online, SPENDING TIME with them, KNOW AS MUCH I CAN about them, and HELP THEM DO WHAT I DO!

My friend,

In order to succeed in this business, you have to help people as much as you can, because if you help them, it will help you. Give before you receive. Keep this in mind.

Lesson # 1: Knowledge is POWER. Take your time to learn



Hi,
My name is Nijad, I started MLM business in May 2009. I spent a lot of time to learn about this business, done a lot of research, read articles, books,an learned a lot from other successful mentors .



Lesson #1: Learn!
Take your time to learn. Nothing comes without knowledge, and in order to get knowledge you have to give yourself some time!


I know that some of you have started this business, some of you succeeded, others didn't...

And yes I know, most of you said SCREW THIS!! another SCAM!


Again, give yourself some time!


Now I'm gonna say this in your face, It's NOT a get RICH fast business!
Anyone who told you that... well, they LIED!


that's the truth, and you have to accept it!


Don't worry if you failed once,


If you lost a battle it doesn't mean that you will lose the war!

DON'T WORRY!
If you believe in yourself, YOU WILL succeed.


Just GIVE IT SOME TIME!
